Water Resources Limited - City of Blaine News Release

Water Resources Limited

With recent dry weather, the city of Blaine is experiencing record-breaking water usage with 3.7 million gallons consumed last Sunday alone, with typical summer averages more in the range of 2-2.4 million gallons per day.  Voluntary watering schedules, which restrict lawn watering to even-numbered addresses on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with odd-numbered homes on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, have been in effect since June.  Blaine has also contacted large water customers about the need to cut back usage so that water is available for fire flow.  Birch Bay Water and Sewer District, Blaine’s largest wholesale customer, is spreading the same message to their customers. The city is sending out this notice in the hope that customers will comply so that mandatory restrictions won’t be implemented. “We all have a responsibility to protect our water supply by limiting our usage during dry periods,” states Ravyn Whitewolf, Public Works Director for the city.  For information on water conservation tips, please check out the following link: http://wa-blaine2.civicplus.com/383/Water-Conservation
